Satin is a fabric woven in a satin weave with a lustrous, smooth face and a matte back. The best qualities of this fabric are a pleasantly soft texture, a graceful drape, and easy care.
The slight sheen makes the fabric more elegant and attractive, so it is most often used for sewing sophisticated clothing — making it an excellent choice for dresses, skirts, and corsets.
This fabric is ideal for tunics, blouses, fine shirts, vests, even airy garments and nightwear. Satin is also used to make various interior decorations, such as curtains, chair covers, and tablecloths.
It contains no elastane and therefore does not stretch.
