This fabric design was created from my (Sniedze's) childhood feelings.
From one of my favorite books – Kārlis Skalbe’s “The Kitten's Mill”.
It was a fairy tale I listened to and watched as a cartoon. Quiet, heartfelt, with faith in goodness. It was exactly these feelings – peace, warmth, and hope – that I wanted to depict in this fabric. The kitten, the mill, the grain and the small details are not accidental – they are memories turned into a pattern.
Cotton loop knit (French Terry) is a soft, comfortable and slightly stretchy fabric containing elastane.
On one side the fabric is smooth, while on the other side it has a small loop structure that provides extra comfort and warmth.
This fabric is ideal for sportswear, casual wear, hats, sweaters, trousers and children's clothing.
Loop knit is breathable and provides natural air circulation, making it a great choice for both cooler and warmer days. A practical and durable fabric with enough stretch for comfortable everyday wear.
Sewing tips:
When sewing with cotton knit, it is recommended to use Jersey or Stretch needles if the knit is very elastic it is recommended to use Super Stretch needles, which are specially designed for stretchy fabrics. These needles have a rounded tip that allows them to glide easily between knit fibers without damaging the fabric. Needle size is usually 70/10 or 80/12.
