Hemstitch needle
Tip:
- Give simple blouses a special accent with a long button line.
- Create expressive seams with size 40 viscose (rayon) or multicolored threads.
- Use Hemstitch needles in embroidery machines with files specifically tailored for this needle type.
- Creates decorative accents by sewing lace.
Main features:
- The needle has a special wing-shaped form that allows creating holes in the fabric as a decorative element.
- Color coding:only needle size
The hemstitch needle, also known as the "wing" or "sword" needle, is ideal for decorative seams, broderie anglaise, and white embroidery on loosely woven fabrics such as linen. During the sewing process, the needle creates holes in the seam as a decorative effect. Thanks to the needles with "wings," the sewing thread secures the fabric threads on the sides, creating a classic hemstitch effect – similar to hand-stitched hemstitch work, but much faster.
Usage and recommendations:
- This needle should be inserted and tightened like any other, but the automatic threader will not work.
- To enhance the hole effect, match the thread color with the fabric or use a contrasting tone.
- Use a zigzag stitch plate with an elongated hole and a satin or zigzag foot.
- Prevent seam puckering in soft and lightweight fabrics by using a spray starch or a delicate stabilizer (such as a tear-away nonwoven, water-soluble, or heat-soluble embroidery stabilizer).
Recommendations for perfect results:
- Choose decorative stitches where the needle repeatedly pierces the same spot. Many sewing machines already label these stitches as "hemstitch" or offer them in the heirloom menu. It is recommended to test on a fabric scrap to adjust the thread tension, stitch length, and width.
Fabrics and applications:
- Hemstitch seams, decorative seams.
